River Wilds Golf Club

18 holesPar 726,562 yds

A full-length public par 72 just north of Blair, with a range, short-game area and four sets of tees.

River Wilds Golf Club sits along Highway 75 just north of Blair, about 35 to 40 minutes north of downtown Omaha. It opened in 1999 as an 18-hole, par 72 public course and plays about 6,560 yards from the blue tees.

The layout has a balanced mix: four par 5s, four par 3s, and a run of solid par 4s, including a few over 400 yards. A slope in the high 120s from the back tees means it will test a good player, while the gold and red tees cut it to a very manageable length.

Practice facilities are good for a course this size, with a driving range, a short-game area and a putting green. A stocked pro shop and snack bar round things out.

River Wilds is a sensible choice for golfers visiting Blair, Fort Calhoun or the DeSoto refuge area, and for anyone who wants a quieter, small-town round away from the metro.

Tips for your round

  • Call the pro shop to book a tee time; I could not find an online booking link.
  • Leave about 40 minutes for the drive from central Omaha.
  • Warm up at the range; the opening holes are short par 4s that reward a good start.
  • Leagues and tournaments use the course, so ask about busy evenings when you call.
