Reverb Lounge is on Military Avenue in Benson, just around the corner from The Waiting Room. It is owned by the same pair, Jim Johnson and Marc Leibowitz of One Percent Productions, and it opened in 2014 after a remodel of a building they had owned since 2008. The venue describes itself as a mid-century inspired lounge, and the setup splits into two parts: a front bar for drinks and conversation, and a separate concert room in back.
When it opened, The Reader described the front lounge as a horseshoe bar with dark wood, leather half-booths and vintage guitars on the walls. The back room sits behind a sound door and has a small raised stage, and the venue itself describes the space as small. That makes it a good place to see a newer band or a singer-songwriter up close. The sound and lights are described by the venue as state of the art.
The bar specializes in tiki drinks and craft cocktails, along with beer, and its current tap list is posted on the website. Shows span indie rock, folk and singer-songwriters, hip-hop and the occasional burlesque showcase, booked by One Percent and several other local promoters. Many shows are listed as all ages, while some, such as burlesque nights, are 21+, so check each listing.
Tickets are sold through Etix links on the venue's calendar, and some shows link to the promoter's own page. Recent listings have mostly fallen in the $10-$30 range (based on recent calendar listings; prices vary). Since the front bar operates as a lounge, Reverb also works as a pre-show or post-show stop when you are seeing a bigger act at The Waiting Room down the block.
