Downtown Omaha's Fourth of July centers on The RiverFront, where the Omaha Symphony plays a free evening concert at the Performance Pavilion in Gene Leahy Mall. The show closes with a fireworks display synchronized to the orchestra.
The concert is a newer tradition tied to the reopening of the redesigned RiverFront parks, and it pairs the orchestra with guest vocalists. The 2026 program, Legends of Country, was pushed from July 4 to July 5 because of storm threats, with gates opening in the afternoon and music at 8:30 p.m.
It is an easy add-on for visitors staying downtown: spend the day in the Old Market, picnic on the mall's lawns, and stay for the music and fireworks.
