Fairview Hills, also known as Fairview Country Club, is a public nine-hole course in the hills near Malvern, Iowa, about 35 to 40 minutes southeast of Omaha. It has been around since 1927, which makes it one of the oldest courses in this corner of Iowa.
The course has changed a lot over the years. It started with sand greens, moved to artificial greens in the early 2000s, and switched to real grass greens with a new layout in 2012. Two new holes opened in 2022, so the course feels fresher than its age suggests.
It is a community course with a family-friendly vibe, leagues and local tournaments. Malvern itself is a fun small town with restaurants, shops and the Wabash Trace bike trail, so it pairs well with a day trip into the Loess Hills.
