A friendly small-town nine in Oakland, Iowa, owned by the city, with walk-up play and very low rates.
Oakland-Riverside is a small-town course in Oakland, Iowa, roughly 30 miles east of Omaha. Local leaders founded it around 1959, and for decades it was run privately by the Oakland Country Club before the founders' families donated it to the City of Oakland in 2017, making it a public municipal course.
It is a nine-hole course where you can play nine or go around twice for 18. Expect a relaxed, community atmosphere with leagues on weeknights and plenty of local regulars.
There is no online booking. You sign in at the clubhouse before you tee off, and if the clubhouse is closed, there is an honor-system drop box for green fees.
It is best for travelers exploring the southwest Iowa countryside, or anyone who likes a quiet, inexpensive round with no fuss.
