Tiburon sits on rolling former farmland in southwest Omaha, near the Sarpy County line. It opened as an 18-hole course in 1989, added a third nine in 1994, and now offers three par-36 nines named for sharks: Mako, Great White and Hammerhead.
From the gold tees each nine plays around 3,400 to 3,550 yards, so a full 18 here can stretch close to 7,000 yards, and the slopes in the low 130s show it is a real test from the back. Several forward tees bring it down to a comfortable length for most visitors. Hills and lakes shape many of the holes.
The club had a major clubhouse makeover under new ownership in 2004. Shark's Sports Bar and Grill has a long bar, plenty of TVs and a covered patio, and the club also hosts weddings, banquets and outings.
It suits regular golfers looking for a full-service course with good practice facilities, and groups who want a round followed by food and a game on TV.
