Lost Rail Golf Club opened in 2022 in the hills near Gretna, southwest of Omaha. It is a private club and one of the most talked-about new courses in the region, designed by Scott Hoffman.
This is a serious course. From the back tees it measures more than 7,300 yards with a slope of 149, which puts it among the toughest tests in Nebraska. Six sets of tees bring it down to under 4,800 yards, so members and guests of all abilities can find a fit.
The name ties to a piece of local railroad history the club tells on its website. Access is through a gated entrance, and guests play only when accompanied by a member.
If you have a connection to a member, it is well worth the effort. Otherwise, treat it as one to keep in mind for a future trip.
