Smitty's Garage

Smitty's Garage at 7610 Dodge Street is the Omaha Dodge location of The Garage, a burger-and-beer restaurant brand operated by Hal Smith Restaurants. The company says the concept began when three men sat down with the idea of making the best burgers and fresh-cut fries in town. The Omaha restaurant is described as just south of Roberts Park and is open every day.

The atmosphere is casual and bar-like, with a full bar, craft beer, arcade games and lots of televisions, according to the brand's site. Families are welcome: the kids' menu offers a hot dog, corn dog, grilled cheese or hamburger with Cheez-Its, a drink and a Bomb Pop. The Smitty's Garage app handles curbside pickup and delivery and tracks loyalty points.

Burgers are the headline, from a plain hamburger to builds such as the Fried Onion Burger with onions cooked into the patty, the Sticky Finger with peanut butter and sweet jalapeño relish, and a Spicy Blue Burger. Fries come fresh cut, as sweet potato, with garlic parmesan and truffle, or loaded with chili, queso or blue cheese and bacon. A vegan veggie patty or Impossible burger can replace beef.

It suits a laid-back dinner with kids, a sports night, or a group that wants to split loaded fries and a few beers. The Rad Hour special runs daily from 3 to 6 pm with discounted domestic beer, house wine and draft cocktails. A Lighter Side section lists lower-calorie choices such as a bunless turkey burger and an avocado chicken salad.
