The Admiral is a live music and events venue at 2234 South 13th Street, at the south end of Little Bohemia. For generations the building was Sokol Auditorium, home of the local Sokol, a Czech-American gymnastics organization, where a gym and balconied ballroom hosted polka dances, weddings and, later, rock shows. Its basement, Sokol Underground, was a key stop for indie bands in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The Sokol organization sold the building in 2021 to a group of local and regional promoters, including Omaha's One Percent Productions and Kansas City's Mammoth Productions. Because the new owners could not keep the Sokol name, they renamed it the Admiral as a nod to Omaha's classic movie houses. Local press reported a capacity of about 1,400 at the time of the sale.
Today the calendar mixes national touring acts with tribute bands, DJ nights, comedy and variety shows, bingo nights, markets and benefit concerts. Promoters vary by show, and so do age limits: some events are all ages, while others are 18-plus or 21-plus. Most tickets are sold through Etix links on the venue's website, and a few events are free with an RSVP.
If a show you like lines up with your stay, the Admiral makes an easy night out in South Omaha. Arrive early to grab dinner or a drink on the 13th Street strip a few blocks north, where Masa Luna, Fizzy's Fountain & Liquors and Tiny House Bar are clustered. The building can also be rented for weddings, parties and civic events.
