Afro Fest Omaha

A celebration of African and Afro-diasporic culture with food, music, a fashion runway and a tech and innovation zone.

Early September, around Labor Day weekend · Downtown Omaha

Afro Fest Omaha is run by Afromaha, the group behind African Fashion Week Omaha. It began in 2018 as the African Culture Festival and has grown to celebrate the wider Afro-diasporic community in Nebraska.

Expect African food, live music, cultural performances and an Afro-centric fashion runway, plus an Innovation Zone with hands-on AI and STEM demonstrations. In 2026 a Tech Day at Millwork Commons on September 4 turned it into a two-day event.

It is colorful, family friendly and a great introduction to the African communities that call Omaha home.
