Maha is Omaha's signature indie music festival, a nonprofit event that started in 2009 on the riverfront and grew into the city's best-known day of live music. It mixes well-known national acts in indie rock, alternative and pop with Omaha bands, so you get both the touring headliner and a taste of the local scene in one ticket.
For most of its history Maha lived at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village. After taking 2024 off to rework how the festival is run, it came back in 2025 at Heartland of America Park on the downtown RiverFront, with the Pixies at the top of the bill. The 2026 edition, on August 8, featured Wet Leg and Omaha's own Bright Eyes.
The festival is a single, long day: gates open around noon and music runs into the night across the park. Expect food vendors, art installations, a silent disco and a crowd that ranges from college students to longtime fans who have been coming since the early years. It is all ages, and young kids get in free with a paying adult.
