South Omaha's Polish community has gathered at St. Stanislaus for decades, and the parish festival marked its 50th year in 2024. It is one of the biggest church festivals in Omaha and a regular winner of local best-of lists.
The star is the pierogi. Volunteers spend the summer making tens of thousands of them by hand, filled with kraut, potato or sweet cheese, and they go fast. You will also find golabki (cabbage rolls), Polish sausage, burgers and desserts, plus domestic and imported Polish beer.
Polka bands play all afternoon, and there are kids rides, a cake walk, raffles and a grocery booth to take Polish treats home. It is a one-day event, so plan your Sunday around it.
