Ashland Golf Club has been part of the Highway 6 corridor between Omaha and Lincoln since 1968. It is semi-private, which means it has members but also sells public tee times, so visitors can book a round any day.
The course was designed by Dick Watson and Henry Hughes and has the mature trees and established feel of a classic 1960s layout. The two nines play differently: the front has smaller greens that demand precise approaches, while the back has larger greens with more room but more break to read. The 16th, with its narrow fairway and raised green, is one many players remember.
The clubhouse hosts outings, banquets and weddings, and the club runs leagues and lessons. It is a handy pick if you are staying in Omaha but heading toward Mahoney State Park, the Strategic Air Command Museum or Lincoln.
