Johnny Goodman Golf Course is the championship-length option in the City of Omaha system. It stretches to almost 6,930 yards from the blue tees and plays to par 72, with four sets of tees so most players can find a comfortable length.
The course is named for Johnny Goodman, the Omaha native who won the 1933 U.S. Open as an amateur and remains a local legend. It opened around 1970 on rolling ground in southwest Omaha, near Ralston, and has a more open, modern layout than the older city courses closer to downtown.
From the back tees it is a genuine test, with a slope in the high 120s. Moving up to the white or gold tees makes it much friendlier for the average visitor while still giving you a full-size round with a mix of reachable par 5s and longer par 4s.
It is a good pick for regular golfers who want a real 18 at a city price, and the driving range makes it easy to warm up first.
