Tara Hills is Papillion's original city course, open since 1981 and expanded from nine to 18 holes in the early 1990s. It has the mature look that only decades of tree growth can give, with fairways lined by established trees and a quiet residential setting.
At about 6,100 yards and par 70, it is shorter than its sister course, Eagle Hills, but do not mistake that for easy. The greens are quick and full of movement, and the tree-lined holes punish wild tee shots. Four sets of tees let everyone pick a comfortable length.
The clubhouse has a stocked pro shop, a private meeting room for about 100 people and a covered deck, which makes it a popular spot for outings and fundraisers. There is a putting green and short-game area but no full driving range, so plan to warm up on the practice green.
