Ika Ramen

A ramen and izakaya shop in a small Benson building at 63rd and Maple, now with several metro locations. The menu covers ramen, donburi, small plates and fresh fish, and the broths are the draw.

Ika Ramen & Izakaya describes itself as a no-rules izakaya serving flavors from near and far. Ramen started it all, and the menu now also covers donburi rice bowls, gyoza, poke and a large selection of small plates. This Benson location at 6109 Maple Street is one of five in the Omaha area.

Ramen comes in shoyu, tonkotsu, miso and kimchi versions, plus a light chicken broth, a creamy seafood broth and a vegetarian mushroom and veggie broth with tofu. Small plates range from kimchi tempura and takoyaki to portobello mushroom izakaya fries and fried Brussels sprouts, and steam buns come with fillings such as pork belly, birria and mushroom.

Happy hour runs Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 6 pm, with a reverse happy hour on Friday from 9 pm to close, including discounted draft beer and sake. Online ordering is available. The menu is varied enough for groups with different tastes, and the vegetarian ramen and bowls give non-meat eaters real choices.
