Mouth of The South
A family-owned Cajun and Southern restaurant in Lakeside Hills, with indoor and outdoor seating, handcrafted cocktails, bourbon and a weekend brunch. The kitchen makes its own andouille. Live music is part of the offering.
Mouth of The South is a family-owned, independent Cajun and Southern restaurant that has served Omaha since 2014. Today it operates in Lakeside Hills Plaza at 16909 Lakeside Hills Plaza, serving west Omaha and the nearby communities of Elkhorn, Papillion, La Vista, Bellevue and Council Bluffs. The website does not name the owners or chef.
The room mixes dining with a bar program built around handcrafted cocktails and bourbon, and the restaurant lists live music among its upcoming events. Our earlier research also notes indoor and outdoor seating. A weekend brunch and a happy hour each have their own pages on the site, and the restaurant offers catering.
The kitchen leans into Louisiana: starters such as alligator arancini, boudin balls and New Orleans BBQ shrimp, then gumbo, etouffee, jambalaya and shrimp and grits. Signature plates range from Kickin' Chicken to Catfish Jubilee, and sandwiches include po' boys with catfish, shrimp or crawfish. Desserts include beignets, bread pudding and bananas Foster.
It is a strong choice for adventurous groups, date nights and anyone craving Gulf Coast flavors far from the Gulf. Reservations can be made online. Online orders carry a 3% surcharge for card payments, and there is a short kids menu with a cheeseburger, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, fried shrimp and grilled cheese for younger diners.
