Scary Acres has been an Omaha Halloween tradition since 1994, and for many locals it is the haunt they grew up daring each other to try. It sits on 20 acres on Giles Road in the far southwest corner of Omaha, near Chalco, and runs every fall from mid-September through Halloween weekend.
There are three separate attractions. The Master's Castle is the flagship, House on the Hill is a classic haunted house, and the Haunted Woods sends groups down a dark outdoor trail. A combo ticket covers all three, and speed passes let you skip the longest lines.
On Friday and Saturday nights, Omaha Circus Arts performs a short fire and circus show in front of the castle around 9:30 p.m., which gives everyone a breather between scares. It is best suited to teens and adults, though braver kids come with their parents.
