Elmwood Park Golf Course has been part of Omaha since 1916, which makes it one of the oldest public courses in the city. It winds through the mature trees and ravines of Elmwood Park, just across from the University of Nebraska Omaha campus and a short drive from Midtown and Dundee.
At par 68 and about 5,000 yards from the back tees, it is short on paper, but the terrain makes up for it. Expect sidehill and downhill lies, tight tree-lined corridors, and small greens that punish a loose approach. Long hitters will find that position matters more than distance here.
The course has a lot of local lore. A young Warren Buffett famously ran a used golf ball stand here in the 1940s. Today it is a busy, well-loved neighborhood course that draws students, longtime locals, and after-work players.
Elmwood suits casual golfers, groups of mixed ability, and anyone staying in central Omaha who wants a full 18 without a big time or money commitment.
