Willow Lakes is the golf course for Offutt Air Force Base, set just south of Bellevue. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in the early 1960s, and it is one of the more serious tests in the Omaha area, stretching to about 6,850 yards with a slope in the low 130s from the back.
Expect classic Trent Jones features: long par 4s, big par 5s, and greens protected by bunkers and water. The back nine has three par 5s, giving longer hitters some chances, but the par 3s and long two-shotters will test your iron play.
Military members and other authorized Defense Department patrons get priority, but the course welcomes the general public with a slightly shorter booking window. The practice setup is strong, with a driving range and two putting greens, and The Grill serves breakfast and lunch.
It suits confident golfers who want a quality, championship-style course at a reasonable price, and it is a natural choice for visitors with a military connection.
