The Benson Brewery
A Benson mainstay since 2013 with reclaimed wood floors, exposed brick and a beer garden. The kitchen does gastropub fare, from burgers to vegan wings, alongside house beers and cocktails. Flights of 4-ounce pours make it easy to sample.
The Benson Brewery has operated on Maple Street since 2013, making beer and gastropub food in the heart of the Benson district. The company describes itself as a microbrewery serving elevated pub fare in a relaxed setting, and its beer garden and taproom have made it a regular meeting point for the neighborhood.
The beer list is built around year-round mainstays such as Tapalope blonde, Hazy Hare New England IPA, College Water premium American ale, and two Berliner weisses, with seasonal and limited releases rotating through. Guest taps, wine and a list of named cocktails fill out the bar, and tasting flights let you try four pours.
The kitchen goes well beyond bar snacks. Expect brew fries, poutine, a long sandwich list that includes a Reuben, Cuban and fish and chips, plus salads and baked mac and cheese. The menu marks vegan and gluten-free dishes, with seitan wings, a black bean burger and a vegan gyro among them. It works for a casual dinner with a group, a flight-and-pretzels afternoon, or a family meal, since a kids menu is available. Hoppy Hour runs Tuesday through Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday, and Wednesdays take $3 off vegan items.
