Brother Sebastian's Steak House & Winery
A family-run steakhouse in west Omaha, open since 1977, with intimate monastery-style dining rooms, some warmed by fireplaces, and larger rooms for groups. Nebraska Angus steaks are seared over an open flame.
Brother Sebastian's Steak House & Winery has been operating at 1350 S. 119th Street since 1977, and its website describes it as locally owned. The restaurant sits about a block south of 119th and Pacific Streets and about half a mile west of I-680, a convenient location for west Omaha. The site does not give ownership names or detail the winery side of the name.
The dress code is smart casual, and reservations are recommended but not required, with walk-ins welcome. Booking is done by phone. The restaurant is handicap accessible and asks parties with a wheelchair user to call ahead. It holds a liquor license with a wide selection of liquor, wine and beer, accepts major credit cards and cash, and sells gift certificates online in any amount.
The kitchen specializes in U.S.D.A. Choice Nebraska Angus beef seared over an open flame, with slow-cooked prime rib as the house specialty in queen and king cuts. Other steaks include New York strip, ribeye, porterhouse and several filet preparations such as Filet Oskar. Starters include escargot in mushroom caps and beef carpaccio, and seafood runs from walleye and salmon to frog legs, king crab legs and a mixed platter.
Brother Sebastian's is a fit for special-occasion dinners, family meals and groups that want a traditional steakhouse with a long menu of chicken and seafood alternatives. Dinner service ends early, at 8 pm Monday through Thursday and Sunday and 9 pm Friday and Saturday, so plan a slightly earlier evening. Lunch is served weekdays, and takeout is available except on Saturdays.
