Coneflower Creamery - Blackstone District
A small-batch ice cream shop on Farnam that opened in 2016 and builds its flavors around Nebraska dairy and what is in season. Waffle cones are made in house, and rotating flavors range from classic to adventurous.
Coneflower Creamery is a small-batch ice cream shop built on local ingredients. Co-owners Brian Langbehn, a former executive chef at 801 Chophouse, and pastry chef Katie Arant Chapman, who has worked in Omaha and Napa Valley, opened it with the aim of making really good ice cream from really good ingredients.
This Blackstone District shop at 3921 Farnam Street is the stop to pair with a walk along Farnam. Classic flavors include Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate, Blackstone Butterbrickle, Archetype Coffee, Cookies and Cream and Salted Caramel, with seasonal scoops changing through the year. The shop is on the same Farnam Street stretch as many of the neighborhood's restaurants, bars and shops, so it fits easily into an evening stroll.
The shop also makes ice cream sandwiches and fresh cookies and pours floats using local root beer on tap. Toppings include hot fudge, house-made sprinkles, brownie bites and marcona almonds. It is open into the evening Tuesday through Saturday, so it works well as a dessert stop after dinner at one of the neighborhood's restaurants.
