Coneflower Creamery (Millwork Commons)
The downtown scoop shop of a small Omaha ice cream maker, opened in 2023 in Millwork Commons with extra seating and a whimsical candy-factory feel. Flavors use local ingredients and rotate by season.
Coneflower Creamery makes small-batch ice cream from locally sourced ingredients, with a stated aim of making really good ice cream from really good ingredients. It was started by Brian Langbehn, a former executive chef at 801 Chophouse, and pastry chef Katie Arant Chapman, who has worked in Omaha and Napa Valley, including at Bouchon Bakery.
This Millwork Commons shop at 1241 Millwork Avenue sits in the revitalized warehouse district north of downtown. The classic flavors include Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate, Blackstone Butterbrickle, Archetype Coffee, Cookies and Cream and Salted Caramel, alongside rotating seasonal scoops that change with availability. Because the shop sits among the loft offices and restaurants of the district, it is an easy add-on to a walking tour of the area.
Beyond cones and cups, the menu covers ice cream sandwiches, fresh cookies, floats made with local root beer on tap, and toppings such as hot fudge, amarena cherries and marcona almonds. It is a natural dessert stop after dinner at a nearby Millwork restaurant, and open into the evening Tuesday through Saturday.
