Cocktail lounge$$Old Market & Downtown

Mercury

A small, mid-century-styled lounge on 16th Street with a seated bar and lounge seating, where the soundtrack leans toward yacht rock. It pours craft and classic cocktails alongside a deep whiskey list, in a conversational setting suited to a quiet drink.

Mercury opened in May 2016 on the ground floor of the Limelight apartments at 16th and Harney, in the former Brodkey's Jewelers space. Co-owner Clark Ross had previously run bar programs at the Boiler Room in the Old Market and Nite Owl in the Blackstone District, and certified sommelier Sara Mellor is among the other owners, according to Omaha Magazine.

Per that coverage, the owners aimed for a comfortable atmosphere with quality drinks at affordable prices. An old walk-in vault was converted into a wine cellar, and ice is cut from large blocks made in a Clinebell machine. Our description of the room is a small mid-century-styled lounge with seated bar and lounge seating.

The program covers cocktails, around 100 wines with 12 by the glass, beer, and more than 350 spirits, per the 2016 article. It suits a quiet drink before or after a show nearby. Because our sources are several years old and the bar has no site we could reach, confirm hours and the current list before visiting.
