Kitchen Table
A casual downtown cafe on Farnam serving scratch-made breakfast and lunch, with house-baked bread, sandwiches, soups and bowls. Daytime only.
Kitchen Table is an independent restaurant at 1415 Farnam Street, owned and operated by husband and wife Jessica and Colin Duggan. It describes itself as a home away from home serving local, seasonal, from-scratch food, with a goal of making slow food quickly. The dining room is rustic and cozy, and the buildout used reclaimed wood from a family barn.
A small Shopette sells similar from-scratch goods such as breads, lasagna and local products. Service is dine-in, takeout and delivery. The current menu centers on breakfast and lunch: grits bowls, breakfast sandwiches, a frittata, and sandwiches including a wagyu hamburger and The Whole Bird. The restaurant says its meatloaf sandwich and whole bird sandwich were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
A big share of the menu is plant-based, such as tofu sandwiches and a zucchini jam sandwich. Hours listed on the site are Tuesday through Sunday, 9 am to 3 pm, with evening events hosted by arrangement. It is a good choice for a weekend brunch or an easy lunch and for guests who want vegan or gluten-free choices.
