Barry O's

A family-run Irish-leaning bar in the Old Market with a patio and a regulars-and-visitors mix. It gets lively around St. Patrick's Day.

Barry O's is a long-running bar at 420 S. 10th Street on the ground floor of the former Howard Hotel in the Old Market. Local history writing traces the corner back to a cigar store in the 1890s, then to the Howard Cafe, later bar names and a 1982 renovation as W. S. Walcott.

Barry O'Halloran took over in 1985 and opened Barry O's; his family owned several popular Omaha bars. A local history account calls it the oldest continually operating bar of any name in the Old Market, and notes a skylight above the bar and a canopied entrance.

The bar is known for crowds on St. Patrick's Day and during the College World Series, and it serves as a gathering spot for Creighton fans. Our listing mentions a patio, which the history account does not confirm. There is no website we could find, so confirm hours and food directly.
