Sonny's Aksarben
A seasonal outdoor bar at Aksarben Village's Zone 6, with bartenders working from a repurposed Airstream. Guests can bring food from the neighboring Inner Rail food hall, and there is live music on weekends plus ping pong and cornhole. Open summers only.
Sonny's is a seasonal outdoor bar in Aksarben Village at 67th and Shirley Streets, next to Inner Rail Food Hall. It grew out of a once-empty parcel known as Zone 6 that was converted into a public space with a dog park and pop-up uses before Sonny's began in 2022. The setting is the point.
A repurposed Airstream camper serves as the bar, a gazebo with plants provides patio seating, and a turf lawn invites guests to bring their own chairs. A stage, ping pong and cornhole fill out the yard, and there is a dog park close by. Sonny's serves cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer, but no food, so guests are pointed next door to the food hall.
Live music is scheduled on weekends, and the operator runs a second Sonny's in the Builders District downtown that shares the same website. Because it is seasonal and outdoors, it is best for warm evenings and weekend afternoons rather than late fall or winter. The website's tagline is that it tastes like summer, so confirm it is open before you plan a visit.
