Anthem (Old Market)
A lively Howard Street restaurant with a patio, bar seating and a creative cocktail list. The menu mixes global comfort food, from smash burgers and fried chicken sandwiches to Thai-style braised pork and tacos. Brunch, dessert, gluten-sensitive and kids menus are available.
Anthem is a Flagship Restaurant Group concept that began in Austin, Texas, and opened in Omaha in April 2026 at 1205 Howard Street in the former Plank space. Local press describes the cooking as Latin-Asian, with a cocktail bar attached. The company is also behind Memoir and Blue Sushi Sake Grill.
The room borrows its booths and layout from the previous restaurant but has a brighter, tropical look, with rattan lights, warm wood, patterned tile, greenery and a long bar. A private dining room called the Make out Room, hidden behind velvet curtains, seats up to 14. The menu leans on shareable plates such as Thai curry fries, crab rangoon, Hatch chili queso, Inca chicken skewers and kung pao cauliflower, along with burgers, birria tacos and noodle dishes.
Margaritas are a focus, including a frozen blood orange version and one made with sake and yuzu, and a spirit-free list is offered. Happy hour runs daily from 3 to 6:30 pm, and a reverse happy hour runs Friday and Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 pm, making it one of the later options in the district. Weekend brunch is served Saturday and Sunday, and a kids menu is available.
