Clio (Old Market)

Clio is a Mediterranean-inspired wine and mezze restaurant on a corner of Howard Street in the Old Market, at 1202 Howard. It has a second location at the Shops of Legacy in west Omaha, and its tagline, Mix & Mezze, Sip & Stay, sums up the idea: drinks, small plates and a wine list in one relaxed place.

The menu starts with four spreads served with housemade sourdough pita, then moves through salads, cold and hot mezze, and large plates. Dishes include falafel, wood-roasted beets, merguez-stuffed dates, Turkish beef dumplings, and kabobs served with saffron rice, pickles and hummus. The Clio Feast gathers many of the favorites onto one table. Wine is central, with a list and bottles to take home, plus spritzes and cocktails.

Happy hour runs Monday through Saturday from 2 to 6 pm, with discounted spreads and a few small plates, and a separate lunch menu is served on weekdays. This is a good fit for sharing among friends or a group, and a natural pre-theater stop since it sits close to the Orpheum and the Holland Center. Vegan dishes are clearly marked, and a Gluten Sensitive menu is offered.
