Via Farina
Wood-fired sourdough pizza and handmade pasta in Little Italy, next door to the BLUEBARN Theatre on South 10th Street. Chef Paul Kulik helped launch it, and the kitchen still makes its dough, pasta and bread in-house. The wine list is long and fairly priced, and a happy hour makes it an easy pre-show stop.
Via Farina is a wood-fired pizza and pasta restaurant on South 10th Street in Little Italy, right beside the BLUEBARN Theatre. James Beard-nominated chef Paul Kulik, known for Le Bouillon and The Boiler Room, helped create it with local bar owner and designer Ethan Bondelid. The original Little Italy location is the flagship, and a second Via Farina now operates at Regency Landing in west Omaha.
The room centers on an open kitchen built around an Italian-made wood-fired oven, with a backlit bar, vinyl records on the turntable and a patio out front. It's a lively, casual space that fills up before and after shows at the theater next door, and it's a short ride or a longer walk from the Old Market and downtown hotels.
The kitchen makes its sourdough pizza dough, pasta and bread in-house, and the menu changes with the seasons using local farm ingredients. Pizzas range from a classic margherita to the Fratello with soppressata, chili and honey, and the Full Monty with potato, bacon and cheddar. Handmade pastas include an egg yolk raviolo with brown butter and sage, bucatini pomodoro and rigatoni with white bolognese. The drink list leans on affordable Italian wine, spritzes and cocktails.
It's a strong choice for a date night or a group dinner where everyone can share pizzas and plates. Come during happy hour for discounted spritzes, wine and pizzas, including a spritz-and-margherita combo, or book a table through Toast before a BLUEBARN performance. Takeout is available if you'd rather eat back at your rental.
