Masa Luna
A 21-and-over tamaleria on South 13th Street in Little Bohemia that opened in 2025, from the owners of a former tamale delivery business and the team behind Fizzy's. Handmade masa tamales come in meat, vegetarian and vegan versions, al pastor tacos come off a trompo, and the bar focuses on additive-free agave spirits.
Masa Luna is a tamaleria and agave bar at 1258 South 13th Street in Little Bohemia, in the former Muchachos space. It opened in September 2025. Carlos Cuevas and Gillian Cromwell Cuevas, who first sold made-to-order tamales by delivery, own it with Noah and Katie Mock, the team behind Nite Owl and Fizzy's Fountain & Liquors across the street.
The space has a playful retro look that one local critic compared to a grandparent's basement, only cooler, and it's 21-and-over only. There's no reservation system for regular dining, so tables are first come, first served and weekend waits are possible, but a second-floor mezzanine can be booked for private parties.
Masa is made by hand, and the tamales come in meat, vegetarian and vegan versions. Al pastor tacos are carved from a trompo, and the menu also includes a breaded pork tenderloin torta, chips with house salsa and dips, and desserts like a caramel flan cake. The bar program focuses on additive-free, sustainably produced agave spirits, with mezcal cocktails and frozen margaritas.
It's a good fit for a casual date or a night out with friends on the 13th Street strip, and an easy first or last stop before the bars nearby, including Fizzy's across the street. Prices are moderate, with the most expensive dish around $16 in early 2026. Arrive early on weekends since it's walk-in only.
