Archetype Coffee
The Little Bohemia branch of a local specialty roaster, set in a bright, Scandinavian-inspired space on South 13th Street that also houses the company's roasting operation. Owner Isaiah Sheese won the 2023 U.S. Barista Championship. Expect carefully made espresso drinks, house chai and sweet and savory baked goods.
Archetype Coffee is an Omaha specialty roaster, and its Little Bohemia shop at 1419 South 13th Street opened in 2018 as the company's second location after its Blackstone roastery café. Owner Isaiah Sheese won the 2023 U.S. Barista Championship and placed fourth at the World Coffee Championship, according to Omaha Magazine, and his team brings that competition focus to everyday drinks.
The roughly 3,200-square-foot space was designed with clean, Scandinavian-inspired lines and plenty of natural light, and custom bronze cabinet pulls shaped like coffee beans were made by local artists. When the shop opened, Archetype moved its roasting and baking operations here, so this location is also where much of its coffee is produced.
Expect carefully made espresso drinks and brewed coffee from beans roasted in small batches, plus house-brewed chai and a rotation of seasonal drinks. Sweet and savory baked goods fill out the counter, which makes it an easy place to grab breakfast as well as a coffee before a day of exploring.
It's a natural morning stop before walking Little Bohemia or heading downtown, and a comfortable place to sit with a laptop or a book. Archetype also has shops in Blackstone and Millwork Commons if you're staying elsewhere in the city, so you can keep the same coffee on different days of your trip.
