Beacon Hills in Aksarben Village

A relaxed Aksarben Village restaurant and bar overlooking Stinson Park, with a broad menu of sandwiches, salads, steaks and chef’s specials plus weekend brunch.

Beacon Hills is a chef-driven American bistro at 6750 Mercy Road in Aksarben Village, founded in 2001. Aksarben Village lists owners Anne and Craig McVeigh and describes the restaurant as casually elegant, with made-from-scratch appetizers, entrees and desserts and an extensive wine list. The restaurant's own site stresses steaks, seafood and made-to-order food.

The menu is broad. Appetizers include crab rangoon, charbroiled oysters and steak tips, followed by salads, handhelds, burgers and house originals like chicken pot pie and short rib stroganoff. Seafood choices cover walleye, shrimp and Chilean sea bass, and prime cuts include sirloin, filet mignon and ribeye. Many items are marked gluten-free.

Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday and features Caramel Vanilla French Toast, Grilled Sirloin & Eggs and a Signature Crab Cake Benedict. A weekday happy hour runs 2 to 6 pm, with half-price wine on Mondays. The Elmwood Room hosts private events of up to 70 guests. It suits family dinners, business lunches and weekend brunch groups. Tables can be reserved online through Toast. The website notes that a new main menu is slated to launch October 19, so dishes may change.
